So much excitement

Fernando arriving on Wednesday at 12:25am!!   Spending two days with Fernando at home before driving out to Tucson today.   Getting up at 5:30am and then spending ALL day driving (we took it easier than usual) and getting to Rebeca's house just before dark.  Spending about an hour in heaven with Rebeca and Scotty - reading him books and singing to him before he had to take his bath and go to bed.  Then leaving Rebeca's house to spend the night at Loew's Ventana Canyon Resort.  We have two nights here and what a NICE place this is.  Ok, that has been our excitement and we look forward to more tomorrow!

Pictures again!

We sent Scotty a package on Friday, and he received it today!  Jason sent us these pictures.
What a sweet boy.  He said he'd wait for his mommy to get home before opening the package!

He loves being in the grass....
and with one of his dogs!

Beautiful rain last evening!

We had little showers all day long, but they didn't amount to much.  So, in the evening, we decided to walk up to get the mail.  We saw dark clouds to the north and heard thunder but with the way the rains had gone all day, we thought THAT wasn't coming also.

So, as we got closer to the mailboxes, there were several lightnings and we thought, oh no, we better hurry up!  After we got the mail, we felt a few drops but that's all it was a few drops here and there.  As we walk up our driveway, the drops of rain became a little more abundant and as we slipped onto the front porch, the rain came down hard!!!  We couldn't believe the timing!!!  We just made it!!!  We stayed on the porch for a few minutes watching the rain and feeling lucky about not being caught out in it.  It was just a matter of a few seconds!  And what a good rain it ended up being!!  It rained hard for at least 30 minutes and rained the rest of the evening.

Glasses

It was very strange sitting today in the optical department at Costco, ordering glasses for myself.  Just can't believe that I need glasses now.  The doctor said I will be shocked at how much better I'll be able to see with glasses, but we'll see.  Seems like I see decently enough right now anyway.

It's so hot here in San Antonio right now - well it IS August!  This is the worst time of year.  There were rains several weeks ago so there are plenty of mosquitoes and the weather is so stifling outside.  It's unpleasant to be out there longer than to just get things watered.  Which is too bad because the plants look nice because of the recent rains so it would be nice to be able to sit outside among them.  But just can't do it without getting eaten up.

Here's Scotty being such a big boy standing up all by himself on the little jungle gym playmat that seems like only yesterday, all he could do was lie down on!

Guillermo's new friend

I didn't know that while I was gone, Guillermo started up a daily ritual with the dog next door!  He told me that every evening, when he would do the dishes, he would do his loud whistle and the next thing he knew, that little dog would climb up the tree and then sit on a branch and watch Guillermo through the window.  The little dog is a Jack Russell Terrier named Jackie and she must be a little over a year old.  The neighbors got her when she was a puppy.  She always has greeted us through the fence and has been climbing the tree for quite a while.  It was amusing when she first started to climb the tree.  She'd get herself way up high and then we'd watch as she struggled to learn how to get herself back down the steep trunk.
Anyway, somehow or another, Guillermo learned that whistling at the sink (even with the windows closed) was something that Jackie could hear and respond to and she'd appear up on the branch every time.  Here are a few pictures of this precious dog, who we call Jiggy, or Jigafur, or even sometimes Jackie.

How we see Jiggy as we're standing at the sink, looking through window and screen.  She's right there in the middle.

Putting the camera above the screen gives a slightly clearer look.

Then I walked outside to get a picture without any glass or screen.

There she is.  Such a silly Jigafur.

But every evening now, when we wash dishes, Guillermo does his whistle and Jiggy climbs the tree.  It is so funny!

Back home

The drive back home was long - and straight!!!  Silver City to El Paso where we stopped at Rudy's to get gas and some lunch.  What a perfect place to stop.  We could get gas and some good food at the same time.  Oh, that brisket was absolutely delicious!  This Rudy's even had breakfast tacos!!  Something you just can not get in Tucson.

We traded off driving again every two hours or so, which makes that long drive doable and bearable.  We got in to San Antonio around 7:30, stopped at Luby's for supper and then were home by about 8:15!

Missing Rebeca, Jason and Baby Boy!
