We decided to stick around in the morning a little longer than we thought we would. But that was good, because it gave us more time with Scotty and it allowed Jason to do a Skype call with a student uninterrupted.
We took Scotty for a walk this morning and didn't see much of anything. But we enjoyed the walk with him and we could tell he enjoyed the walk too.
Reading books later to him that morning was interesting. At one point, he just rolled off my lap and stood by the couch where I was sitting. So, I continued reading to him that way. He sat down on the floor and listened to the book from there! Not always sitting, sometimes climbing around and trying to get up on the couch, but he was always listening. Even if he wasn't looking right at the book!
Oh and Guillermo got to see Scotty go from lying on his tummy to a sitting position this morning. Again, it was so exciting!
Scotty went down for his nap around 10:15 and woke up around 11:30, right at the same time that Jason was finished with his Skype call. So, we were able to say goodbye to both of them! And yes, it was very sad.
So, we took off from Tucson around 11:45, drove to Deming where we had a late lunch at the Campos Restaurant. The food was very good. Then we drove on to El Paso where we spent the night.
Thursday, August 28th.
We were very impressed with how the landscape looked from El Paso to about Fort Stockton. Land that is usually brown, dry and not very impressive was actually quite pretty! Everything was so green! It looked like a totally different place! Once we got to about Ozona though, all the clouds were gone from the sky, the landscape looked totally dry and the temperature was a lot hotter. We got home around 4:10 that afternoon. Tired and hot, but filled with absolutely beautiful memories.
