In November, I flew to Calgary to help Fernando and Eva pack up their apartment. Guillermo stayed home because even though he was feeling fine, he had several doctor appointments during the last weeks of November.
Flying from San Antonio to Calgary couldn't go fast enough. Fortunately all segments of the flight went smoothly. It was lovely looking down at the landscape as we flew, noticing that some time after Oklahoma the ground seemed to be covered with snow the rest of the way. Once landed in Calgary, the excitement I felt was tremendous. Waiting for my luggage to come out was excruciating and it seemed to take longer than usual but finally finally finally the suitcase appeared. I practically RAN to the exit and there was Fernando, Eva and little Leo in his stroller. I don't think I could have been any happier at that moment - I actually cried with happiness when I saw them.
The next week and a half was spent happily playing with Leo, going for walks with him and Eva and occasionally taking apart some "not absolutely necessary" piece of furniture. Then the next few days after that were a little rough. The apartment started looking different with various things taken apart and leaning against the walls. Then some of Leo's play things were dismantled and put away. About twice a day I would take Leo out for a walk and stay out while he napped so Eva could pack without worrying about waking him up. The last two days were unreal. Especially that last day when we had to have everything out and the place cleaned before the landlord came to inspect everything. Amazingly enough we got it all done. Eva had to spend the last hour or so in the car in the apartment's parking garage to take care of Leo. We had gotten a hotel room earlier that day and after we were done with the landlord (around 8:30 at night), and after picking up some slices of pizza, we collapsed in our hotel rooms. Here are some pictures from Calgary.
We took several walks every day. The snow was just lovely.

I had a visitor in my hotel room!
I flew back to San Antonio the next day, but that was ok because Fernando, Eva and little Leo would be coming to San Antonio 4 days later!!!!
The day after I got back home, we had house-guests! An old friend of Guillermo's and his wife were visiting family in the states and they came through San Antonio to spend 3 nights with us. They left a few hours before Eva and Fernando arrived!
How happy we were to be picking up Fernando, Eva and little Leo from the airport on December 5th. They stayed with us through January 13th, so we had a nice long time getting to know little Leo. The beginning of December was spent helping Fernando get ready for his interview at the University of Texas at San Antonio. How hard he and Eva worked getting ready for that interview but unfortunately they hired someone else.
After the interview, we all relaxed a little more and started to get ready for Christmas. It was fun shopping for our Christmas tree and doing a little bit of decorating and baking every day. And everyday getting to play with happy Leo. On Dec. 18th, I got to stay home all by myself with Leo while the rest went to a Spurs game downtown. I have to admit I was a little worried how that evening was going to go but the evening couldn't have gone smoother. As soon as they left, Leo fell a sleep and when he woke up, we had so much fun playing in his little play corner. He enjoyed his bath and was fairly easy to put to sleep afterwards. I sent several texts to Fernando while they were at the game and one of them said, "Leo and I want to know when you all are going to another game!"
The following week was Christmas and how fun it was watching Leo open his presents! Some pictures....
