We definitely do not like this time of year. We should, because it's the beginning of Spring, the weather is comfortable and everything is starting to bloom and leaf out. But with all the oak trees around us, the pollen is horrible. Everything is covered in a yellow film. Sadly, we can't keep our windows open during the day because if we did, everything inside the house would be covered also in a yellow film.
At our old house, we had a lot of Ash trees in the area. They dropped pollen also but not like Oak trees do. We always used to see surrounding neighborhoods with all their lovely oak trees and think how nice it'd be to live in an area where there were oak trees. Now we know that it isn't so great. Oak trees drop tons of leaves and make a mess with their pollen at the same time every other tree is getting new growth and the grass is turning green. Who knew!!!
This should be going on for about another two weeks and then the outside will be livable again!

Mom and I enjoying a Peach flavored Schnapps after our lunch on this St. Patrick's Day! (we both coughed and choked after our first tiny sip!) But it was quite delicious!

Our old place
Here is Guillermo standing in front of where our old house used to be. Bexar County is finally starting to work on clearing the land. 6 years after we moved out of there. They are clearing MUCH further up into our old property than what they had said they were going to do. And in the process, they tore up every single tree that had been in our field. Most of which Guillermo had planted himself. It is such a shame. The only tree that was worth anything that they DID save is the Montezuma Cypress that was in our front yard, that is to his left. Not sure how old that tree is, but that is a tree Guillermo planted a long time ago.

Great visit to Tucson
We were lucky to be able to take care of Scotty during the day for 7 full days! We went to the library several times, we went to the zoo, took him out to eat and to stores several times and also just let him enjoy getting to stay at home for a while. Our first weekend there we all went to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Usually Guillermo and I go by ourselves with Scotty during the week, but this time we went with Rebeca and Jason on the weekend. Sure was a whole lot more crowded than during the week, but it was a beautiful day and we all had a great time.
On our drive to Tucson, we spent one night in La Mesilla, New Mexico. We stayed at a little B & B close enough to the center of La Mesilla that we were able to walk to dinner. We found this cute little restaurant that has quite a history! It is Peppers, inside the Double Eagle restaurant. Our server showed us several rooms there which were quite ornate and very interesting!
When we arrived in Tucson, we waited for Rebeca at her house until she came to pick us up after work. Then we all went to Scotty's school to pick him up. He knew this was the plan for the day! When we arrived at the school, apparently he had just had a little fall trying to hug someone and was a little upset. When he saw the three of us walk into his classroom, he quickly forgot about being upset, got this look on his face like OH MY GOD!!!, and then quickly ran over to me and gave me the biggest hug. It was heavenly. Then he gave Guillermo a big big hug and we all felt so happy. It was the moment we had been waiting for quite a while!!!!
Here is Scotty in dinosaur slippers that Uncle Fernando gave him.
A few days later, we took this sweet boy to a place we've been taking him to eat ever since he was about a year old. Sweet Tomatoes. He sure can put away the macaroni and cheese at this place!
At the Desert Museum
This is the day we went to the zoo.
How he loved riding that train and seeing all the ducks in the water!
Enjoying the fact that the taxi wasn't being used by someone else this time at Safeway!
Gummy monster and gummy lover negotiating! It was a nightly ritual that Scotty loved!
