Lunch with Fernando

We drove out to Santa Rosa National Park to have lunch with Fernando today!  :-)

We got there several minutes early, so we stopped at the campground in the park to see what we could see.  There was a Roadside Hawk flying around in there, and there were several iguanas.  Guillermo got out of the car to walk through the campground a little and he happened upon a deer that had a White-Throated Magpie Jay on its back!!!  The Jay was just screeching away and hopping all over that deer.   Guillermo said it even hopped on to the deer's head and did some screeching from there.  He said it was the funniest thing and the deer didn't seem to pay it one bit of attention!

Finally it was time to meet Fernando at his quarters and it was so nice to be able to give him hugs!  We gave him a few things we had brought for him and he showed us around the new dorms.  Very nice and SOOO much better than the old place they had to live in. Here are a few pictures:

This is the front

Their new kitchen looks far and away better than their old one.

Too bad it came out blurry, but you get an idea of their new pantry area and nice new BIG refrigerator!

Flash wouldn't go off inside the common area.

Visiting with Fernando after lunch

So, we had lunch with him, visited with him for a little while afterwards and then took off, since Fernando had some things to do before heading back out into the field.  We were happy to be able to spend a little time with him.

These next two pictures Guillermo took outside our room at the Tenorio Lodge right before we left the other day to document the haircut I got on our last day in Boquete.  Never in my life have I had my hair so short!  It's kind of nice though, and easy to take care of!
