Trip to San Saba

The second trip of our Spring Break this year was to another Airbnb in San Saba, Texas.  This place sounded so promising but was a little disappointing.  The house itself was amazing.  We all agreed that if the house could just be moved to a different area that had more places to hike or visit, then we'd probably never want to leave.  As it was, we were limited in where we could walk.  There was lots of open land around the house, but it's not for walking around on.  The house sits on a working ranch and hunting lease.  We realized why we needed to stick close to the house when we took a short walk away from the house and saw a hunting blind and then further on a target for practice.  Oh well.  There was a nice pond in front of the house where we saw lots of turtles, several ducks and also several snakes in a low hanging tree.  So that was exciting!  The snakes would slither into the water when we would get a little too close for their comfort.  But then we would leave, and soon they would get back up on the branches.  So we saw those snakes a lot.  We loved the house - it was very comfortable for two families (it would even work with 3 families).  We wanted for nothing in that house.  But the chances of renting that house again are slim to none.  We did venture out our second day there to see some parks in San Saba.  Those parks were just ok.  The most exciting thing though was going to see the wedding tree.  It's a huge tree!  And there was a geo cache next to it!  That cache was fun because inside was more than just a log to sign.  It had little trinkets.  We just looked at the little trinkets since we had nothing to trade.  And then we just closed the cache back up and hung it up again.

Walking along a road on the property where we realized - oh, there are deer blinds around here.  But we had gotten permission from the owner so we hoped she knew there weren't hunters out right then.

Lots of ball playing took place down by the pond.

A creek running through one of San Saba's parks.
